The Money Shed.
Bart Simpson Maths Money Problems: Editable.
Thank you to my teaching student Lucy Bennett for these.
Fast Food Menu Maths.
Using the menu PDF above I have created some word problems for each fast food chain. These word problems are differentiated for LA,MA and HA but can be edited if you download the Publisher versions. The menus are great for role play in the classroom as well, get children to take the role as a member of the fast food counter team and ask questions about the cost of items, giving change etc.
Shaun the Sheep Money Alphabet Challenge.
Have created something similar to this before but never with coins and notes, great for recognition of amounts and for adding money. Please note, apostrophe for 'teacher's name' has been added to pdf.
I thought these Lego dollars would be great for role play areas, or if you are doing conversion. You could have a travel agents or post office and people have to convert their currency into Lego dollars e.g. For every UK 50p you get 1 Lego Dollar: How many Lego Dollars would you get for £3.00 etc.
Numbertime - £2.00 Coin
This video focuses on the use of money, there are several places that you can stop it and look at the ways in which coins of different values can be grouped to make counting easier. The video is very visual with some 'interesting' songs.
Maths Currency Conversion Activities
This is a brilliant resource, full of practical ideas and resources to help teach money.
This is an excellent resource for KS2/KS3 looking at a variety of problems and challenges around using money.
I love this booklet, it really brings maths alive with real world problems. Problems based upon mobile phones and planning a trip really bring meaning to the ability to use money.
